Message From the President
As we welcome the vibrant and sunny days of summer, I want to take a moment to reflect on our chapter accomplishments and growth so far this year. We’ve wrapped up our childhood hunger program serving 350 scholars at Kimball Elementary School. We also have concluded our Youth Leadership Institute, a youth-led program for 11–13-year-olds living or attending school in SE & SW, DC. Our 3rd cohort included 13 pre-teens. Together we’ve placed our seniors first by actively participating in a food and grocery outreach project led by our chapter’s seniors, and we wrapped up our 2nd Annual Juneteenth CommUNITY Day where we wore pink, spent green, and bought BLACK. This touches on just a few of the highlights so far this year as we’ve shown remarkable dedication, resilience, and camaraderie. I’m proud of our chapter members and community partners who help us to remain an impactful force in the SE & SW communities.
Summer is a time for relaxation, rejuvenation, and connection. I encourage everyone to take this opportunity to unwind, enjoy the outdoors, and spend quality time with family and friends. It’s also a great time to reflect on our goals, recharge our spirits, and prepare for the exciting events and projects we have planned for the fall.
A wish for a fulfilling and joyful summer is extended from me to you!
